Hi Everyone!

This week we are announcing several exciting changes for 2019 that we think you'll really enjoy!

First, we are changing the Mod Doll Monday contest a bit. Now it's Mix & Match Monday. After giving away a doll each week for the last several years, we are ending that weekly prize and instead featuring the beautiful doll clothes styled in fun and unique ways and a close up look at the designer behind the brand! This week we are featuring the beautiful work of Shari Fuller, be sure to click through to the giveaway to read her story and get to know her more!

Second, we are going to begin a new weekly fashion contest with a fun prize for the lucky winner. The first one will start next week, so be sure to watch for it on the website and Facebook. We'll also include details in a follow-up newsletter. This contest will also have a weekly voting element - so you get to help decide which outfit will win.

Finally, we are mixing things up for our Friday pattern give-away. Moving forward we are going to do a Friday BOGO (buy-one-get-one-free) Deal each week. Similar to the 12 Days promos, the new Friday BOGO offer will be set up for a specified collection each week, for one day only - this Friday the collection will feature a beautiful assortment of fun patterns that we know you'll enjoy! Watch for the announcement in the Friday newsletter and check the site on Friday, the BOGO collection will be highlighted on the main homepage slider.

We are incredibly excited about 2019 and know it's going to be our best year yet!

Honored to serve,

Hi everyone,

On Friday (December 28th) we'll have a free pattern available from Joyce Goetz, the talented designer of the Pink Ladybug pattern brand. Help us decide which pattern should be free and be sure to come back on Friday to download your free copy!

More About Joyce In Her Own Words: "When I was a young girl, my mom would give me €1.04 and turn me loose in the local Dime Store. I would head straight for the fabric section. I learned quickly that this amount would buy four choices of fabric at ¼ yard each. An entire wardrobe for my dolls!  After 50 years of sewing ‘people’ clothes, my granddaughters introduced me to their American Girl dolls. It was so easy to get back into sewing doll clothes. Sewing for dolls is a dream. They never complain, and they have no opinion about style or color. They just smile and love everything I make for them.

I’ve recently discovered that I enjoy designing doll clothes, then turning my designs into patterns so others can make them. As I searched for an outlet for my patterns, I found larougetdelisle. What a great group of people to be involved with."

Hi everyone,

On Friday (December 21st) we'll have a free pattern available from Amy Walker, the creative designer of the Seams to Streams pattern brand. Help us decide which pattern should be free and be sure to come back on Friday to download your free copy!

More About Amy In Her Own Words: "I began learning to sew and design unique baby and teething products in response to a call to mission when my now 7 and 9 year old children were babies, and eventually had the opportunity to sell my designs in a couple of local shops. Demand for doll clothing in one of those shops led me to discover the world of doll clothing. I soon realized that doll clothing was a fun and affordable way to learn garment sewing skills and hone my overall sewing skills while fulfilling my mission. Finding motivation and enjoyment in the creative process and in sewing my own designs, I participated in Liberty Jane's Design and Pattern Academies and was excited to find myself quickly designing and creating my own doll patterns. I work as a team with my husband, Tom, who takes care of the technical side of Seams to Streams’ patterns. My long term vision extends to teaching others to sew, and has begun to unfold as I conducted my first sewing class for children in 2018 and have plans to teach another one in the coming year."

More About Each Pattern:

Halter My Opinion Dress Or Top Designed To Fit 18" Dolls Such As American Girl®:  The Halter My Opinion Dress or Top puts a whole new angle on fashion! This fun and versatile pattern gets right to the point, literally. Enjoy mixing and matching with different
prints and colors while sharpening your skills on an angled seam! With options for knit or woven fabric and a dress or a top, there is endless sewing and fashion fun for you and your doll. With its hook and loop closure and neck strap with keyhole style opening in the back, style is not sacrificed for ease while putting it on and taking it off. The lined bodice
makes the v-shaped keyhole and arm openings clean and neat, giving this dress and top a simple, modern look. Halter My Opinion, in my opinion, is the perfect, cool, wardrobe item to beat the summer heat!

A Crinkle In Time Tunic Designed to Fit 18" Dolls Such As American Girl®:  This is one project you will not have to iron all the kinks out of! Designed for woven fabrics, the A Crinkle In Time Tunic pattern features a gathered hourglass-shaped design element down the center front that flows into a square neckline to create a unique and appealing look. The bound armscyes and bottom edge give a sense of unity and repetition to the piece. While you will be leaving some wrinkles in, you will also learn a sure-fire way to create a crisp and clean square bias bound neckline. The A Crinkle In Time Tunic features a hook and loop closure, and is fully lined to keep those unsightly seams out of sight. I believe you will find the time spent on this pattern to be well spent, crinkles and all.

A Stitch In My Side Pocket Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such as American Girl®:  Get your stitch on with this fun kid-approved design that is enjoyable for both sewist and recipient. Pockets that pop make this dress fun for little ones and the piping and side panels provide plenty of color coordinating fun for the seamstress.
This pattern provides a tip for hemming over bulky seams and is a great simple introduction to using piping. If piping has intimidated you in the past, cut your teeth on this easy application of the skill.

Designed for woven fabrics, the A Stitch In My Side Pocket Dress features a bodice lining and hook and loop closure for the entire length of the back, making doll dressing and undressing a breeze for little hands.

Knot What I Expected Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®: This simple and easy-to-sew sleeveless dress pattern is designed for woven fabrics and features a lined bodice and hook and loop closure. You will tie this one up in a flash.

Things are not always as they appear – from the front, anyway! The solid contrasting color on the back of the dress may “knot” be what you’d expect, yet adds a harmony and cohesiveness to the design. In this pattern you will learn an easy way to sew a bodice lining with all seams enclosed, giving it a nice clean finish, inside and out! You will “knot” regret getting “tied up” in this easy, fun sewing pattern for your 18-inch doll!

Hi everyone,

On Friday (December 14th) we'll have a free pattern available from Helen Kropocheva, the talented designer of the Doll Joy pattern brand. Help us decide which pattern should be free and be sure to come back on Friday to download your free copy!

More About Helen In Her Own Words: "When I was a child, my family didn't really need to ask what gift I wanted. There was one answer: "A doll."  I grew up but I still have so much love in my heart for dolls.
Both of my grannies loved sewing. I began to sew at the age of eight by hand for my baby dolls. My mother taught me to knit. When I turned fifteen I started to sew and knit clothes for myself.
Designing for dolls started for me when my daughter went to school. I was looking for something to do, and my search led to discovering a whole world of dolls and doll fashion.
Now I'm glad to be a part of the larougetdelisle team and engage in my favourite hobbies!"

More About Each Pattern:

Flutter Sleeve Top Designed To Fit 18" Dolls Such As American Girl®:  Sew this top for your doll, and she will flutter like a butterfly!  You can finish the flutter sleeve edges with a rolled hem or leave raw edge finishes as in the photo. The top can be sewn from one fabric or you can select another fabric companion for the flutter sleeves to your liking.

Romper Designed to Fit 15" Dolls Such As Bitty Baby®:  These super sweet rompers are both made from knit fabric to ensure your little doll stays cool and comfy all day long.

The romper has two parts: top and bottom. The top part is a T-shirt, while the bottom part is pants without center front and side seams. All hems and neckline are finished with ribbing bindings. All gathering seams are stabilized with clear elastic tape.

This romper pattern has 2 options:
Option 1: A Romper for girls with sleeve frills and waist ruffle. This option has an applique on top front panel (step by step instruction is included).
Option 2: A Romper for boys with 3 buttons on Bodice Front panel.

Pajama Top Designed to Fit 19" Gotz® Dolls:   Do you like to sew? I'm sure you have tons of fabric scraps. Making this top will help reduce your supplies! For this Pajama top you'll need printed knit fabric, and different solid-colored fabrics for the bottom panel and pocket. The fabric choice will determine what you`ll sew: a pajama top or cute long-sleeve top, for a girl or boy.  I chose a cute fabric for pajamas, because my favorite doll likes to hide a candy in her pocket when she goes to bed! If your doll also likes secrets, be sure to sew such pajama top for her.

Leggings Designed To Fit 19 Inch Gotz® Happy Kidz Dolls: Pairs of leggings are essential to any doll’s wardrobe, as they are so very versatile. Your doll can wear leggings under skirts, dresses and shorts or pair them with a tunic or sweatshirt. There are so many cool options you can create.
Sewing will not be difficult, even if you are beginner seamstress. Step-by-step instructions help you along the way.

Hi everyone,

On Friday (December 7th) we are offering a free doll clothes pattern from designer Peggy Creighton of Frog Princess Fashions and Frog Pond ToysFor the first time ever we are incorporating machine embroidery designs into the voting ballot!  Be sure to vote now for which machine embroidery design or sewing pattern you'd like to see offered for free, and then return on Friday to get your free copy!

More About Peggy In Her Own Words: "Hi, I’m Peggy and I love sewing—especially for children. This is a fairly recent discovery for me, as I have been sewing since I was nine years old, but mostly for adults. When my twin granddaughters were born, I discovered how much I loved sewing for them. And since they were little girls, I wanted to make a safe, soft cloth doll for each of them. I tried lots of doll patterns, but I wasn’t happy with the results, so I finally made my own pattern. These dolls became a big hit at local craft shows! It was such fun to make them, clothes and all, but making shoes for them was hard. After I enrolled in the Liberty Jane Design Academy and later the Pattern Academy, I became quite interested in designing my own doll shoes and clothing patterns. That led to my first published pattern: The Sweet Sneaks, a machine embroidery pattern, which I published with larougetdelisle in 2017. Soon I began publishing more shoe patterns, and sewing patterns. And now, you can get my doll design and other toy designs, my machine embroidery shoe designs, and lots of my doll clothes patterns too, all on larougetdelisle! Thanks so much for your support of my creations. I am blessed to be able to offer them to others on larougetdelisle!"

More About Each Pattern:

SEWING PATTERN:  The St Francis Jacket Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  This stylish little jacket for your 18” doll has only three main pattern pieces and is easy to make. It requires only a quarter of a yard each for the jacket and lining fabric, and is fat-quarter friendly. The jacket is fully lined for ease of construction and easy wear, and there is even a lining tutorial to help with all steps of stitching the lining, especially the sleeves! The classic raglan sleeves are so simple to sew, yet allow for animal ears to be added, and the round neckline allows for a cute tee-shirt or collar to peek out underneath, or a fuzzy scarf to wrap around your doll’s neck.

Complete the look with a stretchy pair of leggings, boots, and a hat, and your doll is ready for the great outdoors! Your jacket can be decorated with your choice of four adorable designs: cat, dog, bear, and lamb. You’ll want to add all four designs to each of your dolls’ cool weather wardrobes!

MACHINE EMBROIDERY DESIGN: Bella's Bow Tied Booties Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:   Bella's Bow-Tied Booties were inspired by a pair of crocheted baby booties that caught my eye. When I realized they were somewhat similar to my own high-topped shoe design, Bella's Bow-Tied Booties were underway. I revamped my stitched high-top shoe, adding a few adjustments to the size and shape in order for the tongue to overlap the heel and be assembled last, and adding eyelets along the top for the shoestrings. The result was a cute little boot that is both trendy and easy to construct in the hoop. It is versatile enough to be used with woven fabrics as well as craft vinyl and faux leather. Best of all, it is super-cute, tied with a bow either in the front or the back.

These shoes are designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl® and can be stitched with a 5x7 hoop or larger. And, for your convenience, this design works with the Pixie Packs Pre-Cut Shape 1 soles, or you can cut your own soles with the Liberty Jane Shape 1 sole template provided.

MACHINE EMBROIDERY DESIGN: Bella's Bow Tied Booties Designed To Fit 14.5 Inch Dolls Such As WellieWishers™:  Bella’s Bow-tied Booties were inspired by some crocheted baby booties that caught my eye. When I realized that they were somewhat similar to my own high top stitched shoe design, Bella’s Bow-Tied Bootie design was underway.

I revamped my stitched high top shoe, adding a few adjustments to the size and shape in order for the tongue to overlap the heel and be assembled last, and adding eyelets along the top for the shoestrings.

The result was a cute little boot that is both trendy and easy to construct in the hoop. It is versatile enough to be used with woven fabrics as well as craft materials such as vinyl and faux leather.

Best of all, it is super cute tied with a bow, either in the front or the back!

This style is also available in the 18” size for dolls such as American Girl®and can be stitched with a 5 x 7 hoop or larger. And, to make your construction simple, this design works with the Pixie Packs Shape 2 Pre-Cut Soles, but a template of that sole shape is provided for your to cut your own.

MACHINE EMBROIDERY DESIGN: The Cat-tastic Dress Designed To Fit 14.5 Inch Dolls Such As WellieWishers™:  The Cat-tastic dress was inspired by our rescue cat and our granddaughters' love of soft, stretchy, fun clothes to wear. This applique design features ruffle-trimmed sleeves, a dropped waist, and a skater-style skirt that is meant to hug the hips and flare out at the hem. (A gathered skirt/sleeve ruffle option is offered as well.) This style dress fits best when made of a slightly stretchy fabric. And, because it is a “hoodie” designed for cooler temperatures, a variety of standard fleece or sweatshirt fleece fabrics work well. It is also fun to experiment with the newer terry knits and the sweater fleece prints.
The design calls for a hook and loop closure, but you might want to experiment with snaps, buttons, or a zipper.

This outfit is designed to fit 13-14.5" dolls such as WellieWishers™, Hearts for Hearts Girls® and Corolle® les Cheries.

More About Craig In His Own Words: "I currently live in a pastoral community in southern Tennessee. My mother worked in the garment industry and my father worked as a sewing machine mechanic, one could say sewing is in my blood. My first job at the age of 16 was working in the cutting room of a garment manufacturing company. Growing up my mother made most of my and my brother’s suites.  She encouraged my love of textiles and couture finished garments. I begin sewing for children when my youngest niece, Hailey was born. I always made her coordinating church dolls to go with the outfits that I designed for her.  Soon, I submitted me first pattern to Sew Beautiful Magazine, an international periodical. Since that time many of my designs and editorials have been featured in Martha Pullen’s magazines and heirloom doll clothing books.  I have taught doll fashion and heirloom sewing at many fabric shops and clubs around the middle Tennessee area."

Hi everyone,

On Friday (November 16th, 2018) we will offer a pattern from Judy Rosenberg of Sofie Clareese Doll Fashion for free as a special one-day only event. We'd love to have you vote to help us decide which pattern will win, then be sure to come back Friday to get your free copy.

More About Judy and Sofie Clareese, (in her own words)... "I am not sure, maybe loving dolls is an innate characteristic at birth, but I do know that my mother and grandmother were the influences that determined my knowledge and love of dolls and sewing. My mother provided the beautiful dolls over the years and my grandmother taught me to sew.  When my first granddaughter was born I wanted to start her on a special journey of dolls in her life too, so I purchased an American Girl® Doll of the Year and packed it away until the time she would be ready for her. Little did I realize where that action would take me.

I have always loved designing, from learning to cut out a very crude doll dress pattern to laying out different color towels on my bed to designate rooms for them. The later found its way into the field of Interior Architecture and the former to my association with larougetdelisle.

Doll play requires clothing, so when the time came, I set about making a matching coat and dress, the same as my granddaughter’s, in doll size. Looking for more trendy clothing to sew I found larougetdelisle, then Liberty Jane Clothing, loved the patterns they offered took their first design and pattern drafting courses and ventured into the doll pattern realm.

I thank larougetdelisle for the opportunity and all the customers who have supported me for the enjoyable time back to one of my favorite places in life. Also, the chance to honor my mother and granddaughter, by naming my brand “Sofie Clareese” after my granddaughter’s full name whose middle name is my mother’s. Thank you for the opportunity to give back in offering a free pattern."

Hi everyone,

On Friday (November 9th) we are highlighting the work of Heidi Mittiga, creator of the Flossie Potter Patterns collection, by offering her brand new Layered Lettuce Jumper pattern for free on the first day of its release. This cute jumper is perfect for Fall and coordinates beautifully with a number of Heidi's other patterns. This new pattern will be free for one-day-only and then it will return to the regular price.

More About Heidi Mittiga and Flossie Potter Patterns, (in her own words):  "Hello to all those who sew for the dolls you love!
I’m Heidi Mittiga, owner and creator of Flossie Potter Patterns. Since I joined Pixie Fair as an exclusive partner, nearly 70 of my patterns have been published! Thank you to all of you who have sewn my designs, whether for your private collections or for craft sales. I hope you will continue to follow my patterning journey.
To show my appreciation for your loyalty, I am offering for ONE DAY ONLY this brand-new design: the LAYERED LETTUCE JUMPER. It pairs nicely with my 1970s Body Suit.
For the chillier months, cover up with the NEW Flossie Potter Belted Cape and finish the ensemble with my Tam Cap."

More About The Layered Lettuce Jumper Pattern: Flossie Potter's Layered Lettuce Jumper is a basic piece that your 18" doll's wardrobe should not be without! Its simplicity lies in the fact that there is only one pattern piece which has a fold-up hem for the second layer's length.

The jumper is perfect for intermediate level seamstresses. It features long straps and closes in back with hook-and-loop tape that meets in the center so that there is no bulky overlap. Stretch fabric allows the skirt portion to hug the doll's silhouette as well as to form the distictive lettuce hems on the two-tiered thigh-high lengths. Sew it up in one color, two colors, or multicolored fabric for a new look every time.

Pair the jumper with Flossie Potter's 1970s Body Suit for a sleek style! (And for those chilly nights, don't forget Flossie Potter's Belted Cape and Tam Cap patterns!)

Here's a preview of the pattern cover.

We'd love to hear from you! Leave a comment below and thank Heidi!

If you make a cute outfit using this pattern be sure to share a picture using the #pixiefaire on Instagram or Facebook!

Hi everyone,

On Friday (November 2nd, 2018) we will offer a pattern from Donna Kinley of the DKinley Designs pattern collection  for free as a special one-day only event. We'd love to have you vote to help us decide which pattern will win, then be sure to come back Friday to get your free copy.

More About Donna and DKinley Designs, (in her own words)... "I (and 5 siblings) were orphaned when I was 4 years old. Two of us were adopted by an Aunt and Uncle.  The rest went to the orphanage and foster care. With that much trauma in my life I needed a place to hide, so at that early age, I created my own little world in sewing and designing for my doll.  As my sewing skills developed, I began creating clothing for myself and eventually for others as well.  I studied commercial art and design in college, and worked in the printing industry for a while.  I did custom sewing and alterations for years, but have now come full circle, back to the little world of dolls.  I enjoy the creativity of designing and the technical challenge of developing the patterns.  I hope to pass on my love for creating to others, through patterns that teach in a way that is easily understandable. (And in case you were wondering… yes, my siblings and I are still in touch and are thankful to see each other when we can.)"

Hi everyone,

On Friday October 26th, 2018, we will offer a pattern from Laura Griffith of the fabulous Love From Lola pattern brand for free as a special one-day only event. We'd love to have you vote to help us decide which pattern will win, then be sure to come back Friday to get your free copy.

Here's a little about Laura in her own words: "I am a full time mom to three children. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with them, I enjoy designing and sewing. I learned to sew from my mother at the age of 11. While I would sew off and on through the years I didn't start sewing doll clothing until my daughter received a doll for her birthday.  Designing started soon after as I would find myself shopping for clothing for my daughter and think 'Hmm, wouldn't that look cute in doll size.' The rest as they say is history. I am excited to be partnered with larougetdelisle and share my designs with you. I hope you have as much fun sewing them as I have had designing them!"

More About Each Pattern:

The Off Center Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such as American Girl®:  The quirky and cute Off-Center Dress is like nothing you’ve ever seen, and the name tells it all - everything about it is off-center, from the asymmetrical V-neckline to the delightfully wonky handkerchief hemline. You can choose one, two, or three main fabrics to design the look you want. Make it sleeveless or add cap sleeves. The optional built-in sash, which ties in the front or in the back into a unique petal bow, adds another element that softens the angles of the rest of the dress. The fully lined bodice and the clean finishes on the skirt make the inside of the dress as beautiful as the outside. The dress closes in the back with hook and loop, so your doll can quickly be ready for her next party.

The Lola Dress and Romper Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  The Lola Dress and Romper is a design that is full of surprises! The bodice is gathered at the bottom into a wide lined waistband and at the top into a lined yoke. Lola’s unique yoke is like a collar at the front that turns into cap sleeves…and then at the back flows into a wide T-strap embellished with buttons (or simply closed with hook and loop if you like). The open sides at the back make for a cool and breezy top for a summery dress or for a playful romper. The cuffed romper version has a choice of three lengths: shorts, capris, or long pants. Add a cardigan or jacket to take your romper or dress into the cooler months. This value-packed pattern also includes instructions for matching headbands for children and dolls.

A Pocket For My Posies Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  Summertime means a walk through the field picking wildflowers along the way. Every girl needs a place to store those wildflowers. A Pocket for my Posies has pockets that are perfect for keeping every beautiful flower she finds. Princess seams along with a slightly gathered skirt accent the front of the dress. The two gathered pockets on either side of the dress are a perfect place for some flowers. The dress opens fully at the back making it easy for small hands to dress. It can be finished with a simple hook and look closure or buttons and button holes can also be used.

More About Jennifer in her own words: "While on a couture tour in Paris, I met a very special little pug named Teaspoon. Teaspoon represents all things cute and fabulous to me and thus inspired the name of this enterprise. Now a little dog named Magic keeps me company in the studio.  I started out designing patterns for my students to use in my classes.  After a while, some of them wanted to make clothing for their dolls and they introduced me to Liberty Jane Patterns.  Impressed by the stylish clothing patterns that were offered, I decided to make doll versions of my girl patterns.  Combining my childhood love of dolls along with my fashion industry background has added a wonderful layer to what I offer my students at The Sewing Room."

More About Robin and Dolls and Heart Designs, (in her own words)...

Dolls, sewing, fabric arts, and fashion have been a lifelong passion for me. As a young girl, I grew up learning to sew clothes for both myself and my dolls. I often drew fancy paper dolls and artistic sketches of my favorite dresses. Later when I became a stay at home mom, I took pattern making from noted designers and tailors. At the time, I founded my own business and created custom clothes for my clientele as well as my family. As my kids entered school, my interest in doll clothes was rekindled and I started a business in making and selling doll clothes. My main markets have been local craft fairs and online sites such as Etsy. Recently I have started as a designer with larougetdelisle and have sixteen published patterns to date. It is a joy for me to construct quality doll clothes and patterns. Please consider something made especially for your doll.:)

1970's Ruffle Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  This pattern that features a dress design typical of the 1970s era of fashion - a step back into the nostalgia of the 1970s where there were lots of flared looks in skirts and pants.

This dress design has a bodice with contrasting fabric in the center panel front and back with a ruffle along the edge from front to back, contrasting waistband and bias trim on sleeves and skirt bottom.

This dress has princess lines and set in sleeves with a slight flare, and flared skirt. You will learn how to line the bodice, hem curved edges, how to set in a sleeve, and how to cut and apply bias trim. The dress can also be made without the ruffle and/or using eyelet for the ruffle. Other options include ricrac for ruffles and/or embroidery for waistband.

Flutterby Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  This dress has an A-line silhouette with flutter sleeves, flounce on skirt and a large collar edged with bias trim along the neckline.  It can be made with fashion fabric for the entire dress or can be made with contrasting collar and bias trim along sleeves and flounce.

This dress can also be made sleeveless and/or without the skirt flounce as a shorter version.  It has multiple lines within the pattern pieces to accommodate a smaller 10 ¼ inch waist doll up to an 11-inch waist doll.  This dress can be made with retro prints or modern cotton prints and/or solids.  It can also be augmented with buttons or bows and/or a waistband.

Tartan Plaid School Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  This dress design is reminiscent of the 1940s era of fashion.  This dress has a contrast yoke with pin tuck detailing and/or a mock placket with buttons.  The lower front and back bodice are cut on the diagonal.  The dress has puff sleeves with cuffs.  The skirt is semi-full and falls at the knees on the doll.  Two skirt lengths are provided in pattern.  The skirt has two pockets with tucks and bias trim details.  The neckline is finished with contrast bias trim that matches pockets and cuffs on sleeves.  The dress also comes with two options for cutting the bodice on the straight of grain for fabrics with diamond print backgrounds.  This dress uses the Hong Kong finish method for the contrast bias trim on neckline, cuffs, and edges of pockets.  This method is used to reduce the bulk in seam allowances.

More About Karen In Her Own Words: I've always loved dolls. My tenth birthday present from my mother was an honest-to-goodness sewing basket filled to the brim with supplies, and a Barbie pattern. I was in heaven! I sewed throughout my high school years, and then began again when my great nieces received American Girl dolls. My teenage sons were horrified that their mother was playing with dolls. During that time I also discovered Liberty Jane patterns. Wow--stylish, detailed patterns for dolls with fantastic instructions and a beautiful fit! Before I realized what was happening I was designing my own patterns. Partnering with PixieFaire as a seller and designer has been such a fun adventure! I'm grateful to those of you who have become customers and friends along the way. This pattern is my thank you to all of you--enjoy!

More About Each Pattern

Bedrock Beauty Designed to Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  If you grew up in the 1960s, it's likely that you would have watched an animated television program called the Flintstones. A playful take on entertainer Jackie Gleason's "The Honeymooners" series, it broadcast the exploits of a "modern Stone-Age family." This pattern is a nod to that show and those times, and a great choice for a 1960s or modern-day costume for 18" dolls.

The tunic has three main pattern pieces and is designed for use with non-fraying fabrics to eliminate hemming. This quick and easy-level sewing project is a great choice for craft-show sellers, Etsy vendors, and would also be a perfect mother-daughter project for cold winter months. Non-fraying costume suede, faux suede, or a cotton quilter's fabric backed with lightweight iron-on interfacing can be used to create the dress. Instructions for the fashionable Stone Age accessories are also included.

Nautical Skirt Designed to Fit Disney® Animators' Dolls:   Calling all Disney Animator Dolls ready for an adventure! The Nautical Skirt With Pockets Pattern a skirt with deep pockets—so handy for dolls and their friends who want to stow important treasures! Option 1 of this PDF sewing pattern has decorative topstitching, an inset panel, deep patch pockets, a faux-buttoned waistband, and a straight gathered skirt that can be used with border prints or stripes. Option 2 is a simplified version of Option 1 to make the skirt an easy-level sewing project for newer seamstresses. Both skirts have flat fronts and elasticized backs for easy dressing and fit.

Faux Button Jumper Designed To Fit Les Cheries® and Hearts For Hearts Girls® Dolls: The Faux Button Jumper is a simple pattern with detailing that looks complicated--but isn't! It looks like it has a front placket, but looks can be deceiving. The placket is all show, and the jumper actually has only three main pattern pieces, plus cut strips for Straps and Optional Pockets. Option 1 is an Easy-level project for newer seamstress or those who want quick results (no closures, no lining, no facing, no worries!). Option 2 is slightly more advanced, and is finished with a lining to accommodate lighter-weight fabrics. Either option can be made with or without the optional pockets.

Cowl Neck Tee Shirt Designed To Fit Kidz N Cats® Dolls:  Comfy, soft, warm, and timelessly classic.—so many reasons to love anything with a cowl neck! This pattern offers two options to accommodate beginning and intermediate sewing skills. Option 1 features a classic cowl-neck tee with self-banding on the sleeves and bottom edge, while Option 2 has been simplified with plain sleeves and a simple hem. The Option 2 Sleeves can be cut ¾ length or full length.

Two sets of cutting lines have also been provided: one to achieve a closer “girl-style” fit, and another for a looser look for male dolls. Directions for cutting are provided on the pattern pages. When you print this pattern, check to make sure that the scale is correct by measuring the 1” square scale on each page. Set the page margins on your printer to narrow and the print scale to none. When you begin sewing, pay special attention to the size of your seam allowances. This pattern was sized to fit snugly, and accurate seams are important to achieve a good fit.

Hi everyone,

On Friday (Sept 21st) we'll have one of the following four doll clothes patterns available for free. This week we're featuring the very talented designs from Renee Adams of  Dollhouse Designs!

More About Renee and Dollhouse Designs, (in her own words): "Inspiration is everywhere! I am a great fan of historical dramas as well as history and fashion itself, and so much of what I see becomes food for creative thought. I taught myself to sew soon after my daughter was born, as I wanted to dress her up in slightly old fashioned finery. It wasn't long before I was adapting patterns. Before long, her dolls needed fancy things! Her cache of Dress Up costumes was a favorite of her friends, as well.  As the years went by there was less call for mom-made things and the dolls were set aside. One day I was musing how much I missed sewing for dolls and little girl whimsies. I allowed my inner child to have rein and ordered a doll just for myself & a new sewing machine. After selling my outfits online, I began to receive frequent requests for my patterns. So, another road opened before me. I was able to harness my naturally artistic nature and pastimes in art, history, writing, photography, photoshop, and fashion into a new source of fun. I simply adore designing, and find it hard Not to be mentally working out new fashions in my head all the time. The thing that really makes my heart sing is when I receive notes from moms & grandmas telling me how thrilled their little ones are with their new doll outfits, made by loving hands. The magic of childhood stays alive in all of us, it's just a matter of finding it. Fortunately, the doll collecting/crafting community is such a full and Pleasant place to find like-minded friends! larougetdelisle is a nest of creativity that continues to evolve and finds new ways to inspire. I am very excited to be a part of it."

More About Margie In Her Own Words: "I have always had a love of sewing and have been fascinated with manipulating fabric since being taught by my gran at around the age of 7. In more recent years, besides general sewing, I have made and taught quilting. My love of dolls was put on hold for many years until three years ago when I happened upon larougetdelisle’s site and fell in love with all the outfits and beautiful dolls. Living in South Africa, good quality dolls are not readily available, but a month after venturing into the doll world, my son surprised me with my beautiful AG Julie and with much encouragement from him, my late husband and awesome friends, I started designing dolls’ clothes. I have finally found my niche and love every minute of it."

More About Cherie (in her own words): I have been sewing since I was about 4 years old. I learned to sew at my mothers knee. I learned to sew Barbie clothes not by hand, but by machine. I remember when I was about 10 seeing an outfit that my Grandmother had made for her Barbie that she had done completely by hand and thinking why would anyone take that kind of time. I learned to crochet at age 7 again under my mother's watchful eye. I also learned to knit but as crochet builds faster knitting fell the way of hand sewing I do if needed. I am the wife to a software engineer and mother to 4 daughters that I home schooled for most of their elementary years. When I am not designing and writing doll clothes patterns I work as a teachers aide in a private school.

More About Jeri and Peppermintsticks, (in her own words)...

I’ve always been a girl that loved dolls.  One of my favorite memories is when I was about 5 years old and my mom surprised me with a new outfit she had sewn while I was at kindergarten.  I came home and walked into my bedroom and there was my Tiny Tears doll standing up in her toy crib just like a real baby.  She was wearing a new flannel sleeper and cap.  I felt just like a real mommy.  You know, one of those Suzie homemaker toy commercials that plays in slow motion.  It was just like a dream.  My mom made many of the outfits with her 1964 McCall’s pattern.  She taught me to hand sew with the scraps, alongside her as she sewed.  It's these types of memories that inspired me to sew for my own children and friends.  After all, creative imaginations love big wardrobes for their dolls.  Thank you for your support over the last few years and I hope you enjoy your free pattern!

Hi everyone,

More about Karen Lorraine and Karen Lorraine Design, (in her own words)...
Hi. I’m Lorraine from “Karen Lorraine Design.” I really only learned to use a sewing machine when I was about 40! While I had a few obligatory school lessons when I was young, I used to hate sewing as a school subject and most school projects were finished by my mother :). Then, through a couple of friends, I ended up with a secondhand sewing machine and a desire to sew doll clothes. I still remember being nervous about it all, but here I am seven years later designing for larougetdelisle. I was so excited when I discovered larougetdelisle! A new world opened up. I am definitely a product of larougetdelisle’s Design and Pattern Academy classes, and it is an honor to finally be a designer for larougetdelisle. I enjoy sewing for numerous dolls, with my favorite dolls being American Girl®, Pullip® and Blythe®. I have a soft spot for other adult seamstresses who end up teaching themselves how to sew, and I hope my patterns reflect that with their clear instructions and photographs. I love the journey of sewing and designing for dolls. Away from designing, I am busy with family matters, and in any spare time I have left I enjoy photography, art, road-trips, and walking.

More information about the patterns:

Heirloom Entree Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:   “Heirloom Entrée” features heirloom sewing techniques in a gentle dress pdf sewing pattern. While heirloom sewing is often done by hand, especially the smocking methods, for some of us who might not have the hand or eye capacity to handsew, then machine sewing becomes the main option. It feels really good to know that we don’t have to sacrifice these beautiful techniques, and also that a basic sewing machine is quite capable of producing a beautiful heirloom sewing effect.

This outfit requires a regular sewing machine. You do not need an embroidery sewing machine. It would be nice to have a machine that does a few fancy stitches; however, even if you only have a zig-zag stitch on your machine you can still produce a stunning result.

The two heirloom techniques explored in this pattern are pintucks and (machine) smocking. The latter appears twice: as a display in the centre front, and as a subtle elastic effect on the sleeve. Easy back closures, the choice of a high or low neckline,  and the use of woven cotton fabric makes this dress a pleasure to sew and a stunner to wear.

Dance Time Designed To Fit 14- 14,5" Dolls:   "Dance Time” consists of a leotard with boyleg pants, and 3 tulle-layered overskirts. The leotard is made from knit/stretch fabric. Binding appears on the neckline and armholes (or fold over elastic or stretch binding can be used), while a pretty ribbon sparkles from the overskirt hems. The three-layered overskirts gather at the waistline, and sandwich into the leotard; hence, this pattern does not require any elastic. The tulle can be either a woven cotton or a stretch knit. No back closures are required, although you can insert hook and loop tape for an easier opening-and-closure for little hands.

Also included in this PDF sewing pattern are three bonus items. Leg warmers can be quickly sewn from stretch knit fabrics, while there are two options to create fingerless gloves. One of these options is for woven cotton fabrics, and the other is for knit fabrics.

This package allows the seamstress to indulge in a world of solo-colour, go jazzy in foil lycras, or mix-it-up with sequins and glitter. Alternatively, the variations included in this pattern allow for several other outfits, including sweat bands, tank tops, knickers, unitards, and fairy and princess decorated outfits.

Elegant Designed To Fit 11 1/2" Fashion Dolls such as Barbie®:  Whether it’s a red-carpet event or a night out on the town, then the swish and dazzle of this outfit is exactly what your Fashion Doll needs. With seemingly high-end fabrics and classy stitching, this dress and train offer numerous ways to go glam. Whatever the colour or fabric you choose, “Elegant” is certain to stun and impress.

“Elegant” consists of a strapless bodice (with darts) attached to an exquisite skirt. The skirt is close fitting in the front, while sweeping into a train from the back. This pattern also includes a detachable train that mimics the skirt train while also flowing gently around the front sides. The bodice contains a small facing, whereas the skirt is unlined. The pattern is designed for woven fabric (and not for knit stretch fabrics). These photos depict dance satin used for the bodice and skirt, a tulle for the facing, and chiffon for the train.

This PDF pattern is designed to fit 11 ½" Fashion Dolls such as Fashionista Barbie®. As Fashion Dolls vary in size, here are the measurements of Fashionista Barbie® that you may wish to use to compare to other dolls: bust 5 inches, waist 3 ½ inches, and hips 5 1/8 inches.

At The Castle Designed To Fit Monster High™ Dolls:  “At the Castle” consists of a strapless bodice (with darts) attached to a close-fitting trumpet skirt. With the option of a lace overlay for the bodice, this stylish dress is complemented by a gentle veil and gorgeous gloves. The pattern is designed for woven cotton-type fabric.

These photos in ivory depict delustered satin fabric used for the bodice and skirt, with a lace overlay on the bodice, lace gloves, and bridal tulle for the veil. For a lighter look, the pink photos show the dress made out of muslin.

This pattern was primarily designed for the Monster High™ girl size. Generally, Monster High™ female dolls come in three sizes: adult (29cm height), girl (27cm height), and kid sister (25cm height). [There is also a newer “giant size” of about 17 inches which the pattern will not fit.]

Due to the design of “At the Castle”, by making slight alterations this pattern will also fit the Monster High™ small sized kid sister and adult dolls, as well as the three general Ever After High™ dolls. [Ever After High™ female dolls come in three main sizes: tall girl (28cm), medium girl (27.25cm), and short girl (24.5cm). The pattern will not fit the “giant” doll here either.]

All alterations for the different sized dolls are contained in the pattern. Here is an example of how the alterations are presented: “If you are sewing for the MH girl (medium) size, follow the patterns pieces as they are. Do the same for the small MH kid sister.

If you are sewing for the MH large adult doll or an Ever After High™ tall doll, then you will need to add 1/8" to each centre back long side of the skirt (pattern pieces #7 and #9), and add ½" to each centre back of the bodice and facing pieces (#1 and #2).

Hi everyone,

On Friday (August 3rd, 2018) we will offer a pattern from Robin Wasner of Dolls At Heart Designs  for free as a special one-day only event. We'd love to have you vote to help us decide which pattern will win, then be sure to come back Friday to get your free copy.

More about Chris and Love U Bunches, (in her own words).

My journey into designing doll clothes patterns began in 2012 when my granddaughter decided she wanted an American Girl® doll. So I bought her a doll... and I bought one for me!  Since she lives in Wisconsin and I live in Texas, I had to have my own doll so I could sew outfits and send them to her. My family was so impressed with the outfits that I was sending to her that they decided I should sell my patterns online. When I couldn’t think of an original name for my company, my amazing daughter-in-law came up with Love U Bunches because that is how I sign all the cards and letters that I send to my granddaughters: Love U Bunches, Grandma!.

I didn’t start sewing until about 7 years ago. My mom and sister could sew anything, even Barbie doll clothes, but I was afraid I would cut the pattern out wrong and waste material. My sister finally convinced me to give it a try and I was hooked! We sewed lots of pretty outfits for our niece’s American Girl dolls for Christmas. My husband and I even made 2 wooden four-poster beds for them. I have made a lot of outfits for my niece to wear which turned out great, but the first time I used a pattern for an adult I cut the pattern out wrong and wasted material! Now when I buy material I try to buy a little extra, just in case.

More About Shari Fuller and Thimbles And Acorns, (in her own words).

My grandma gave me my first sewing lesson when I was about eight years old. I had been fascinated with her sewing for as long as I could remember and was so excited when she gave me a doll pattern and sent me to her sewing closet to pick out just the right fabric for my first project.
Sewing was a way for me to connect with my grandma, and although she may not have realized it at the time, this gift she gave me helped me become a better student. History became more exciting as I became captivated by the dynamic fashions through the ages. This is what Thimbles and Acorns is all about; building relationships and encouraging learning.

This pattern includes instructions for making a trendy faux button front skirt with a fitted yoke and a popular easy paper bag skirt. You can make tons of cute skirts by using a variety of different fabrics and buttons. Your doll will have the perfect skirt to wear with every cute top in her closet!

Geometry Class Dress Designed to Fit Kidz N Cats® Dolls:  You don’t have to like math in order to like this pattern! The dress and jumper have been named in honor of the two geometric shapes they use: a square and a circle. The square neck has an inset panel that can be cut on the bias or straight grain, and the closely fitted bodice is attached to a full circle skirt. Two sets of cutting lines have been provided for the Dress and Jumper. As an added bonus, an easy pattern for a circular petticoat with a crunchy tulle hem is also included for an authentic blast to the past!

Infinity Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Journey Girls Dolls: Wrap it, tie it, change it! The amazing and versatile Infinity Dress is now available for Journey Girls dolls, with skirt choices available in a short and full length, and an option for using differing fabrics for the bodice and skirt for your own unique designer look. The dress itself is very simple: it’s formed by joining four rectangles of varying sizes together, and sews together quickly. Like the “Big People” version, the straps have an infinite series of possibilities in the way they can be tied to form different looks—hence the name of the dress. It can be worn as a sun dress, party dress, bridesmaid’s dress, or an elegant formal, depending on the fabric, length, and how it’s tied. Make your own version of this PDF pattern, and you’ll have a blast playing with the straps and all their possibilities!

Faux Button Jumper Designed To Fit Hearts For Hearts Girls and Corolle® Les Cherie Dolls:  The Faux Button Jumper is a simple pattern with detailing that looks complicated--but isn't!

Hi everyone,

On Friday (June 15th) we'll have one of the following four doll clothes patterns available for free. This week we're featuring the creative work from Karen Sherman of Jelly Bean Soup Designs!

More About Karen and Jelly Bean Soup Designs, (in her own words): "Designing came to me quite by accident. I have sewn for years and worked many years at a Bernina store.  I was also teaching painting classes and designing and selling patterns at decorative painting conventions.  My granddaughter was doing competitive cheer and she was also into American Girl dolls.  She and her teammates wanted doll outfits to match their uniforms, so that became my new job.  Keeping up with all the girls and the uniform business  kept me busy for a couple of years.   One day while she was with me, we discovered the larougetdelisle site.  I was so excited to see all of the wonderful designs and the quality of what we saw.  I submitted a design and was accepted. It has been a great journey and I have, and am continuing to learn all the time.  It has been a pleasure to design for larougetdelisle and the great staff. I love sewing for dolls!"
