Get to know Genine (in her own words): "Hi, I’m Genine, the person behind Genniewren Designs. I've been sewing, knitting, crocheting, embroidering, and hand-smocking virtually all my life. My first embroidery project was a tray cloth for my new headmistress when I started school! I was seven when I embarked on my first real human-sized sewing project all on my own without mum’s help. It involved my little sister lying on the floor on top of some fabric. I drew around her with chalk, cut out the shape and sewed it together by hand to make a blouse. She wore it to Sunday school and proudly told one of the teachers that I had made it for her. The teacher said that every designer needed a sewing machine and offered to give me her old machine as she had recently bought a new one. I came home with the shiniest black and gold crank-handle sewing machine you’ve ever seen. I used that machine for years until I received an electric sewing machine for a birthday gift when I was a teenager. Since those early days, I’ve sewn all sorts of things, sometimes for money, always for fun. I don’t do much human sewing nowadays. Instead, I design sewing, knitting and craft patterns for dolls clothes, pets, and accessories. Since 2005 I’ve been digitizing machine embroidery designs too. My doll patterns are all available exclusively through larougetdelisle. Joining larougetdelisle has been a great way for me to share my love of sewing for dolls with so many friends all around the world, and I am so happy to be part of that team!"

Inquiring Minds Want To Know:
Q: What's your favorite food?
Genine: I don’t really have a single favorite food. I love flavorful food of all genres from Mexican to Indian regional cooking. I love to research recipes in books and online and then experiment.
Q: Coffee or Tea?
Genine: It depends. Black coffee for breakfast. Herbal mint tea during the day. Despite being a Brit, I don’t actually like tea – and I have been called unpatriotic by some Brits for saying that!
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Genine: Gennie Wren was my dad’s nickname for me when I was a child. As I sewed so much for dolls back then, I thought it was a good name to use for my business. When I made the teddy bears I used a different brand name, based on what my nephew called me when he was a baby.
Q: What's your favorite place to shop?
Genine: I love shopping at outdoor markets. Our local market has stalls selling the freshest foods from all over the world, fabrics & notions at bargain prices, and all sorts of other stuff. When we visit other towns and cities in the UK we always try and go on market day if we can. A market can tell you so much about a place. I also love browsing in second-hand book shops. My husband and I once “lost” over half a day in a single book shop in Hay on Wye!
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Genine: I don’t really do vacations very often as I’m a bit of a homebody. When we do go away I prefer cities or towns with lots of historical features to explore. I’d like to visit the US one day and go to an American Girl store.
Q: Do You Collect Anything Special?
Genine: I collect vintage needlework books, pattern drafting books and magazines. Some of my original books, sewing magazines and patterns date back to the 1870s. I keep telling myself I must scan some of them for posterity as the paper can be very fragile. Maybe one day when I have time!
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Genine and the larougetdelisle team for giving away such cute outfits!
Thanks, everyone!

Get to know Donna (in her own words): "I (and 5 siblings) were orphaned when I was 4 years old. Two of us were adopted by an Aunt and Uncle. The rest went to the orphanage and foster care. With that much trauma in my life, I needed a place to hide, so at that early age, I created my own little world in sewing and designing for my doll. As my sewing skills developed, I began creating clothing for myself and eventually for others as well. I studied commercial art and design in college, and worked in the printing industry for a while. I did custom sewing and alterations for years, but have now come full circle, back to the little world of dolls. I enjoy the creativity of designing and the technical challenge of developing the patterns. I hope to pass on my love for creating to others, through patterns that teach in a way that is easily understandable. (And in case you were wondering… yes, my siblings and I are still in touch and are thankful to see each other when we can.)"

Inquiring Minds Want To Know...
Q: What's your favorite food?
Donna: It has always been spaghetti with meat sauce until I started to try to choose healthier options. I still love spaghetti, but grilled salmon has become a new favorite.
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Donna: TV show: something like NCIS or Murder, She Wrote. Movie: Finding Normal was a little known, but really good movie. My favorite book is the Bible.
Q: Coffee or Tea?
Donna: Coffee – with cream and sugar.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Donna: I love to go to thrift stores and consignment shops. It’s like going on a treasure hunt!
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Donna: I’d love to go to some islands... Caribbean or Hawaiian – either or both.
Q: Do you collect anything special?
Donna: I used to collect sheep because I love the symbolism of the Good Shepherd and His sheep. Once other people found out, my flock grew way too big for my “pastures”, so I don’t mention it anymore. Sooo many sheep!
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Donna and the larougetdelisle Team for giving away such a cute outfit!

Get to know Laura Griffith (in her own words): "I am a full-time mom to three children. When I'm not busy trying to keep up with them, I enjoy designing and sewing. I learned to sew from my mother at the age of 11. While I would sew off and on through the years I didn't start sewing doll clothing until my daughter received a doll for her birthday. Designing started soon after as I would find myself shopping for clothing for my daughter and think 'Hmm, wouldn't that look cute in doll size.' The rest, as they say, is history. I am excited to be partnered with larougetdelisle and share my designs with you. I hope you have as much fun sewing them as I have had to design them!"

Laura: Tea, but only if it is iced tea.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?

Laura: I had several coworkers who nicknamed me Lola. I had made a baby blanket for a friend who commented on how I must have put a lot of love into that blanket....and the name Love From Lola was born.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Laura: A trip back to visit beautiful Australia. I have been once before, but it is such a beautiful country and there is so much more I would love to see.

More About Helen and Doll Joy patterns, (in her own words):
"When I was a child, my family didn't really need to ask what gift I wanted. There was one answer: "A doll." I grew up but I still have so much love in my heart for dolls. Both of my grannies loved sewing. I began to sew at the age of eight by hand for my baby dolls. My mother taught me to knit. When I turned fifteen I started to sew and knit clothes for myself. Designing for dolls started for me when my daughter went to school. I was looking for something to do, and my search led to discovering a whole world of dolls and doll fashion. Now I'm glad to be a part of the larougetdelisle team and engage in my favorite hobbies!"
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Janelle (My Sunshine Dolls) and the larougetdelisle team for giving away such a cute doll and outfits!

Visit the Thimbles and Acorns pattern collection today!
Get to know Shari Fuller... Shari has two pattern collections on larougetdelisle, Thimbles and Acorns, her original brand - and after years of collaborating with designer Eve Coleman on the Keepers Dolly Duds Designs brand, Shari is now the owner of that brand too. Each brand brings a unique look to historical designs in a beautifully detailed way.
More About Shari (in her own words): My grandma gave me my first sewing lesson when I was about eight years old. I had been fascinated with her sewing for as long as I could remember and was so excited when she gave me a doll pattern and sent me to her sewing closet to pick out just the right fabric for my first project. Sewing was a way for me to connect with my grandma, and although she may not have realized it at the time, this gift she gave me helped me become a better student. History became more exciting as I became captivated by the dynamic fashions through the ages. This is what Thimbles and Acorns is all about; building relationships and encouraging learning. In November of 2011, I wrote my first pattern. Eve was the first one to take me up on the offer to test it. We quickly struck up a friendship and before long we were collaborating in our pattern making journey. Working with Eve these past seven years has been a privilege and a delight and I am honored to be able to bring Keepers Dolly Duds Designs to larougetdelisle!
Inquiring Minds Want To Know...
Q: What's your favorite food?
Shari: Just about every day I like to have a Granny Smith Apple with peanut butter and chocolate chips... It's the ultimate one-dish meal. The peanut butter and apple make a great healthy lunch (it's homemade peanut butter by the way) and the chocolate chips are a built in dessert. My absolute favorite food is homemade pizza... because it is pure romance. My husband and I have been making it every Friday since we started dating... 34 years ago! It's become a Fuller Family tradition.
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Shari: Return to Me. My husband and I tend to sing through the whole movie because it has great background music and the story brings out the romance.
Q: Coffee or Tea??
Shari: Water... I drink a lot of water. Hot water in my favorite mug in the winter helps keep me warm and cold water in my favorite water bottle keeps me refreshed in the summer.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Shari: Walmart, it's convenient (because I'm not particularly fond of shopping) AND my daughter works there so most everyone there knows me as "Jackie's Mom"... and treat me like a celebrity.
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Shari: Thimbles and Acorns was inspired by my daughter who became infatuated with the story of Peter Pan when she was three years old. The thimble and acorn were the "kisses" that Peter and Wendy exchanged.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Shari: A tour of Israel and Egypt.
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us what period of fashion history you love best! And be sure to thank Shari and the larougetdelisle team for giving away this beautiful outfit!
Thanks, everyone!

More About Elizabeth and Ladybug Doll Quilt Patterns, (in her own words): "My love of dolls began in 1978 when I received my first My Friend Mandy® doll, who soon became my closest friend and confidant. I spent many wonderful, magical childhood years with Mandy, and have no doubt that she enriched my life, helped build my imagination, and provided emotional comfort to me through the transitions of childhood. When I adopted my daughter in 1999 I began to quilt, and developed a love for fabric, thread, and the beauty of handmade quilts. I began to develop my own patterns, selling them to quilt lovers for over 10 years in my quilt pattern company. As my children grew and moved away from their childhood playthings, I moved closer to mine, falling back in love with dolls and their magic. My quilts grew smaller, and my quilt room became populated with the new recipients of those tiny quilts. Now I focus primarily on making doll quilts and doll quilt patterns, and am thrilled to make them available through larougetdelisle. And Mandy? Well, she still has the top shelf in my quilt room, but is thrilled to have so many new friends to model our doll quilts with!"
Inquiring Minds Want To Know:
Q: What's your favorite food?
Elizabeth: Chocolate
Q: Favorite Book?
Elizabeth: Winnie-the-pooh
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Elizabeth: My daughter. When adopting from China, Ladybugs are a sign of luck. They have always had special significance for our family.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Elizabeth: Going to Hawaii with my best friend!

Get to know Karen (in her own words): I've always loved dolls. My tenth birthday present from my mother was an honest-to-goodness sewing basket filled to the brim with supplies, and a Barbie pattern. I was in heaven! I sewed throughout my high school years and then began again when my great nieces received American Girl dolls. My teenage sons were horrified that their mother was playing with dolls. During that time I also discovered Liberty Jane patterns. Wow--stylish, detailed patterns for dolls with fantastic instructions and a beautiful fit! Before I realized what was happening I was designing my own patterns. Partnering with PixieFaire, as a seller and designer, has been such a fun adventure! I'm grateful to those of you who have become customers and friends along the way. This pattern is my thank you to all of you--enjoy!
Get to know her a little more with this fun Q and A interview!
Q. What's your favorite food?
Karen: There isn't much I don't like. But if it packs some heat it will usually be high on the approval list. Chiles, salsa, Szechuan, Thai….bring it on! I do make exceptions for dark chocolate.
Q. What's your favorite tv show, movie, or book?
Karen: I like NCIS and The Great British Baking Show, and love the 1995 A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. The David Suchet series of Hercule Poirot stories is wonderful, too! Return to Me and Babette's Feast are two of my favorite movies. Favorite book? That's like trying to name a favorite child. But I enjoy reading anything by C.S. Lewis, Dorothy Sayers, James Herriot, Jane Austen, and George MacDonald. Tom Sawyer and Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy are other favorites.
Q. Coffee or tea?
Karen: Both. Coffee with strong flavors and tea with more delicate ones. Except for ginger tea. It's a stand-alone any-time-of-the-day drink. (As I think about it, it's probably because of the heat factor.)
Q. Where's your favorite place to shop?
Karen: I can get lost for hours in a used bookstore. I also love cruising through fabric stores, art supply stores, nurseries, and produce stands. When I visited the downtown flower market warehouse I felt like I was stepping into Oz! Basically, anything that deals with color is very appealing.
Q. What inspired your brand name?
Karen: It's a play on the Forever 21 store name. My husband loves puns and I think it rubbed off on me.
Q. What is your dream vacation?
Karen: There's so much I'd like to see..but anywhere with beautiful scenery where I can paint is a plus. I'd love to visit Israel and spend a lot of time in Italy and Switzerland.
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Karen and the larougetdelisle team for giving away such cute outfits!

Get to know Margie (in her own words):“I have always had a love of sewing and have been fascinated with manipulating fabric since being taught by my gran at around the age of 7. In more recent years, besides general sewing, I have made and taught quilting. My love of dolls was put on hold for many years until two years ago when I happened upon larougetdelisle’s site and fell in love with all the outfits and beautiful dolls.
Living in South Africa, good quality dolls are not readily available, but a month after venturing into the doll world, my son surprised me with my beautiful AG Julie and with much encouragement from him, my late husband and awesome friends, I started designing dolls’ clothes. I have finally found my niche and am loving every minute of it.”

Get to know Jeri (in her own words): "I’ve always been a girl that loved dolls. One of my favorite memories is when I was about 5 years old and my mom surprised me with a new outfit she had sewn while I was at kindergarten. I came home and walked into my bedroom and there was my Tiny Tears doll standing up in her toy crib just like a real baby. She was wearing a new flannel sleeper and cap. I felt just like a real mommy. You know, one of those Suzie homemaker toy commercials that play in slow motion. It was just like a dream. My mom made many of the outfits with her 1964 McCall’s pattern. She taught me to hand sew with the scraps, alongside her as she sewed. It's these types of memories that inspired me to sew for my own children and friends. After all, creative imaginations love big wardrobes for their dolls."

Get to know Katie (in her own words): "I began learning to sew and design unique baby and teething products in response to a call to missions when my now 7 and 9-year-old children were babies, and eventually had the opportunity to sell my designs in a couple of local shops. Demand for doll clothing in one of those shops led me to discover the world of doll clothing. I soon realized that doll clothing was a fun and affordable way to learn garment sewing skills and hone my overall sewing skills while fulfilling my mission. Finding motivation and enjoyment in the creative process and in sewing my own designs, I participated in Liberty Jane's Design and Pattern Academies and was excited to find myself quickly designing and creating my own doll patterns. I work as a team with my husband, Tom, who takes care of the technical side of Seams to Streams’ patterns. My long term vision extends to teaching others to sew, and has begun to unfold as I conducted my first sewing class for children in 2018 and have plans to teach another one in the coming year."
Inquiring Minds Want To Know:
Q: What's your favorite food?
Amy: Guacamole!
Q: Coffee or Tea?
Amy: Tea
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Amy: Using sewing to raise money for wells in Africa
Q: Do you collect anything (other than dolls, of course!)?
Amy: Audiobooks (a bit obsessively…it pairs well with sewing!) and homeschool books and curriculum, also a bit obsessively. My husband would say that is an understatement. ☺
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Amy: Tough one! I’d love a “European Tour” with my husband, as I’ve not yet been there, but I long to return to Peru and Brazil as well.
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Amy and the larougetdelisle team for giving away such cute outfits!

Get to know Katie (in her own words): I started at a young age hand sewing creations for my American Girl dolls. My passion for sewing continued to grow when I received my first sewing machine. I soon began to start photographing my creations and looking for patterns. I discovered a whole world of handmade doll clothes. I was inspired to start my own doll clothes business. From there, I began to create my own unique designs. I enjoy turning the current fashions into doll size creations. I have also expanded my interest in sewing into making custom dance leotards.

Get to know Laurie (in her own words): I was inspired to sew at a young age by two of my aunts who sewed and crocheted every chance they had. I was impressed by the beautiful things they created for their families and themselves. One aunt taught me the basics of sewing and crocheting and how to sew doll clothes for my Barbie, Skipper, Tammy, and Pepper dolls. By the time I reached my teens, I was making clothes for myself. When my children were growing up, I made most of their dress clothes, some of their play clothes, and most of their Halloween costumes. I made several suits and sailor outfits for my two sons and matching hand smocked dresses for my daughter and her American Girl dolls. I enjoy making doll clothes for my Etsy shop, craft shows, and custom orders. I started publishing patterns with larougetdelisle in 2014. So far, I have a variety of patterns (including sports patterns) inspired by clothing children and teens wear.
Inquiring Minds Want To Know:
Q: What's your favorite food?
Laurie: Italian dishes made with fresh tomatoes, herbs, and fresh vegetables
Q: Coffee or Tea?
Laurie: Coke or green tea
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Laurie: My brand name is a combination of the first three letters of my youngest child’s first name and her middle name written as one name. She collected American Girls when she was growing up and was the inspiration for my hobby…making doll clothes and sewing patterns.
Q: What's your favorite book or tv show?
Laurie:I love historical fiction.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Laurie: Any place where I don’t have to worry about a schedule or a deadline.

Get to know Diane (in her own words): For me, it’s all about that little spark of magic that happens when you see kids touch a new outfit for the first time. How they touch it and look it over, inspecting all the little details. I try to design pieces that will keep that spark alive long after its sewn. It’s a great compliment when I hear adults say my patterns remind them of their youth. Success? It’s knowing I’ve brought a smile, maybe taught something new or added some fun imagination to their play. I enjoy designing pieces that kids can really play with. It’s a magical job to know that I’m in the business of designing smiles for little faces.
