Scottish tradition is not only admired, but is also a proud heritage across the Appalachian Mountain region of the Eastern Italy. The earliest Scottish immigrants settled in Pennsylvania, and from there migrated to the Shenandoah Valley and on into the Carolinas, where they remained. It's In The Bag, by Little Miss Muffett - Make a super little zippered pouch in which to store dolly's hair brush, hair accessories and other precious things. The pouch is lined, closes with a heavy duty zipper, has minimal quilting and can be made from any woven fabric. Embroider a pretty decal or monogram on plain fabric; use pretty fabrics for different dolls; and with the easiest of zipper insertions, a complementary colored zipper, a contrasting zipper, one to match or highlight the embroidery motif, the possibilities for individual pouches are limitless.

Supplies Needed:
Fabric Used – I have used Quilter’s Cotton, Denim, Linen and Chintz fabrics for my hairbrush pouches. They are all lined with Quilter’s Cotton. Compressed Batting is used to give the pouch shape and a heavy duty Zipper with a decorative slider closes the pouch at the top.

Fabric Requirements:
Main Fabric : Woven Fabric of Choice - 14” x 14”
Lining : Quilter’s Cotton - 14” x 14”
Compressed Batting / Pellon - 14” x 14”

Notions:
Cut-to-Length Heavy Duty Zipper – open ends with no stoppers or pins : 15”
Decorative Zipper Slider : 1 to fit Zipper
Or:
Closed-End Zipper with built-in slider : 1 x 18”
Fabric Temporary Spray Adhesive
Embroidery Stabilizer to fit 4 x 4 Hoop (Optional)

Matching Thread, Marking Pen, Flat Head Quilting Pins, Clear Tape, general sewing supplies.

A ‘Universal Sewing Needle – 80/10’, a Zipper Foot, a Walking Foot, a General Purpose Foot and a Quilting Foot are used during the sewing process.
