Your 18-inch doll will look adorable in this beautiful historical-style Day Dress with its abundance of lace, together with a pretty Mop Cap from Little Miss Muffett. Although not historically accurate, the Annabelle Day Dress is similar to those worn during the late 1700’s to early 1800’s.
The Dress, which has a fully lined Bodice and closes a Center Back with Hook & Loop tape, has a wide, shallow neckline edged with gathered lace and an optional central bow or rose to finish. The long bell-shaped puff sleeves have gathered lace inserts at the bicep and narrow lace which finishes the hem edge. The full gathered skirt is constructed in three sections (which are great for contrasting fabric if desired); the upper section has wide twin tucks to add interest; wide gathered lace is inserted into to the upper section seam while the lower section has lace inserted into the lower center section seam as well as a lace edged hem.
The lace edged Mop Cap is lined, has an elastic casing to keep the cap firmly on the head, and is finished with a small front bow.
This fairly easy intermediate pattern is designed to fit 18-inch soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl® and is available exclusively from larougetdelisle.

The “Sound of Music” is one of this designer's all-time favorite movies. The story is captivating, the music is unforgettable, and the costumes are a feast for the eyes. She has been wanting to recreate a number of the costumes from the movie for years, and the dress Liesel wore when they sang “So Long, Farewell” had to be the first!
The bodice of the dress echos a traditional dirndl with the off-shoulder neckline and faux chemise, but the bubble hem on the fully lined sleeves gives it an almost ethereal appearance. The dress fastens in the back with five buttons (hook-and-loop tape can be used if preferred) and the full-circle skirt makes it perfect for dancing. To complete the outfit, instructions for double-bow ribbon sash are included.

Jo's Writing Dress is the third pattern in Keeper's Dolly Duds “Little Women” series. This is simple but fashionable dress is free of excess embellishments that might encumber Jo's high-spirited and carefree personality, but includes a few special design details that satisfy her appreciation of beautiful things. The front bodice features a front seam and the fabric is cut at an angle that adds an interesting "V" detail when sewn with striped or plaid fabrics. The dropped sleeves give the shoulders a smooth gentle curve and are crowned with a ruffled sleeve cap that gives it an added touch of femininity. The full sleeves are cut on the bias to give them a soft drape and add another subtle design detail when striped or plaid fabrics are used. The bottom edges of the sleeves are finished with a bias cut trim and fasten with a button and button loop. The Civil War Era silhouette is completed with full calf-length skirting that is pleated in the front and gathered in the back. The dress closes in back with three buttons, but hook and loop tape or snaps can be used, if preferred. Pair this dress with Keeper's Dolly Duds “Hooded Cloak” for a cozy winter ensemble!

The Victorian Era ushered in a new kind of freedom. Until this time, elaborate clothing had been reserved for the noble and the wealthy, but the industrial revolution had made fabrics and trims cheap, the sewing machine made sewing fast, and the development of synthetic dyes made it possible to create just about any color under the sun. All of this suddenly became available to the general public and whole new realm of elaborate dress design flourished and became available to the average woman.
The Literary Society dress is an example of a fashionable dress that would have been popular in the 1870s. This two-piece dress is cut in the fashionable silhouette of the time with a full back, higher waistline, sloped shoulders, and form fitted sleeves. The front of the skirt is finished with a ruched overlay that drapes over a ruffled hemline (the ruching is optional if a plain front is preferred). Five rows of ruffles accentuate the full skirt back. The ruffles and ruching can be edged with lace or left plain. The bodice features a built in underbodice with a high neckline that accentuates the low square-cut overbodice neckline. The square neckline can be finished with a ruffle for formal social events or left plain for casual outings such as a seaside adventure. The underbodice fastens in the back with a single button and loop closure and the overbodice fastens in back with two buttons and a snap at the waistline (hook and loop tape or snaps can be used, if preferred). The bodice waistline is defined by a narrow fabric band that sits just above the natural waistline and a series of drapes and aprons are hung from it to add the quintessential 1870s layering draping details. The sleeves of the bodice are fitted and can be finished with a plain hem or with a lace edge and side slit that creates an elegant flare at the wrist.
This dress can be worn by itself, but for the full effect it is recommended that it is worn over our Primrose Chemise and Lobster Tail Bustle.
This dress is easier to make than it looks, however it is rated as advanced because it requires you to pay close attention to the details in the instructions.
This PDF sewing pattern by Thimbles and Acorns is designed to fit 18-inch dolls such as American Girl®.
Suggested Fabrics: Bodice and Skirt in light to medium weight fabrics such as quilting cotton, cotton shirting, dotted Swiss, poplin, linen, lawn, or silk. Not suitable for knits. Underbodice in lightweight cotton, batiste, voile, lawn, and silk.

Your 18-inch doll will look adorable in this gorgeous Vintage style dress from Little Miss Muffett. Although not historically correct, the design is based on various examples of Children’s Clothing from the mid to late 1800’s.
The Dress has a lined Bodice which features a Ruffle edged Bib with 8 centralized corded Pintucks, 3 pretty buttons and a bow at Center Front to finish. Medium length Puff Sleeves have elastic gathers at the elbow with lace trim and side bows to finish. Sash ties are attached at the Bodice sides and tie at Center Back. The full, gathered Skirt has a pretty coordinating Ruffle and is finished with lace trim. The dress closes at Center Back with Hook & Loop tape.
The slim cut, Ankle length Pantaloons have an Elastic Waist, lace trim on the hems and pretty side bows to finish.
The dress is slightly shorter than the pantaloons which allow them to peek out from underneath the dress hem.
This fairly easy intermediate pattern is designed to fit 18-inch soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl®.

Fashion is where expression meets practicality and lures it into the realm of the extreme. Though fashion trends have a tendency to push the limits, practicality always manages to bring them back into balance... at least for a time. Full skirts were the hallmark of the early Victorian era and by the 1860s they had expanded to as wide as six feet in diameter. However, as railroads began forging paths around the world, women began to travel more and more. Full skirts and crinolines made for poor traveling companions and the boundary for this fashion trend had been reached. Still, it would be a gallant exit. The 1870s saw a great boom in the textile industry. Hand looms were replaced by more efficient steam driven power looms which resulted in a larger supply of cloth and fancy trims at greatly reduced prices. The great cage crinolines were shed and the surplus fabric from the full skirts was draped in elaborately decorated layers and pulled toward the back in large bustles that were reminiscent of those worn a century earlier. The fashionable silhouette had become smaller and more mobile.
Use this Lobster Tail style bustle to enhance your favorite 1870s style dress. Pattern includes a bonus Petticoat!
This PDF pattern by Thimbles and Acorns is designed to fit 18-inch dolls such as American Girl®.

Beth is the second pattern in Keeper's Dolly Duds “Little Women” series. The crowning feature is the fitted sleeves topped with a double-puffed sleeve cap. These caps can be made in matching or contrasting fabric. The bottom edges of the sleeves are finished with a bias cut trim and fasten with a button and button loop. A row of decorative buttons add just enough embellishment to the simple bodice to keep the focus on the sleeves. The Civil War Era silhouette is completed with a full calf-length skirt that is embellished with two rows of tucks and a wide strip of bias trim outlined with lace. The dress closes in back with three buttons, but hook and loop tape or snaps can be used, if preferred. Pair this dress with Keeper's Dolly Duds “Hooded Cloak” for a cozy winter ensemble!
