The shadow work diamond and bow was originally designed by Craig Sharp of Sharp Dressed Dolls as a hand embroidery design, conceived as part of The Marlene Dress and The Marlene Slipper patterns. Craig contacted me and requested that I digitize the design for people with embroidery machines. This incredible machine embroidery design is the end result; it not only has the appearance of an heirloom quality design but has a neater finish; as well as saving you hours of tedious hand sewing. It’s sure to become your “go to” machine embroidery design.

This beautiful and delicate, heirloom-style motif is not only perfect for doll’s clothes. It would work for baby and children’s clothes, as well as handkerchiefs. The design could also be combined in software to create delicate borders or embroidered insertions for heirloom garments. Any item you choose to use the diamond and bow or just the bow motif is sure to become a cherished family heirloom for generations to come.

Shadow work by hand or machine is ideally done on lightweight, sheer fabrics such as batiste or handkerchief linen, for optimal effect.

This set contains two shadow work machine embroidery designs: a diamond and bow motif, and a separate design that’s just the bow on its own.

The designs were manually digitized to reduce jump stitches and to enhance your embroidery experience. There is one jump stitch in the diamond and bow design, and that is where the blue outline has to break between the diamond sections as any traveling stitches would show at that point on the good side of your work.

This crown design*, by Genniewren Designs, is the perfect size for using on doll clothes such as tee shirts or PJ tops. The satin stitch design shows well on fleeces, hoodies, and sweatshirts too.
