Little Flock and Flowers Mini pattern includes instructions for both the sweater and hat, and contains photos and step-by-step instructions for special techniques such as a contrasting edge cast-on, corrugated rib, three needle bind off, and more. There are color charts for the fair isle sections and written instructions for the remaining sections. Best of all, this pattern is almost seamless; only the base of the placket and the underarms require seaming. The sweater has a buttoned placket opening that can be worn at the front or the back. The body, sleeves and hat are knitted bottom up, in the round using stranded fair isle technique. Body and sleeves are knit separately to underarm then joined for the yoke. A placket opening is created at the back, beginning at the start of the yoke. The cuffs, hat band and hem of the sweater are knit in 2-color corrugated rib. During the late 1930s through the 1950s a casual-wear staple in the female closet was a Playsuit. A typical Playsuit consisted of a one or two-piece outfit with short pants or bloomers worn at the beach or other casual warm-weather occasions, accompanied by a front-opening skirt that could be added or removed for a more covered look. A Playsuit set could be designed as beach wear with a bathing suit underlayer, as well as a casual outfit that could be worn during sports activities or outdoor events. The Forever 18 Inches Playsuit Skirt is an authentic reproduction of a vintage pattern. Features include a gathered skirt sewn into a fitted waistband, a front opening, and optional pockets. The skirt can close with button-covered snaps or hook and loop tape.

Three different waistband cutting lines are included to fit a range of 14" - 15" doll sizes. When you print this pattern, check to make sure that the scale is correct by measuring the 1” square scale on each page. Set the page margins on your printer to narrow and the print scale to none. When you begin sewing, pay special attention to the size of your seam allowances. This pattern was sized to fit snugly, and accurate seams are important to achieve a good fit. “Luxe Cardigan”, by Karen Lorraine Design, is a simple knitting pattern with the option of lacework at the lower edges. The lace pattern (used in this pattern) is based on the popular horseshoe lace pattern. The cardigan is knitted in one piece, leaving just two seams to be sewn together afterward. The pattern is written for flat needles (although you can use circular needles if you desire, as long as you remember the pattern is not written in the round).

This cardigan is a great introduction to lace knitting. You can knit all the lace stitches if you wish, or you can try out the lace pattern on a small area, such as the sleeves. The horseshoe pattern is also quite forgiving, so if you do make an error while learning lacework, it will not be as noticeable as many lace patterns (for example, lace shawls). This is especially true if you try the lace pattern first on the sleeves.

The lacework is made up of simple stitches like the popular yarn over stitch. The “CDD” (Centered Double Decrease) stitch is introduced (with explanations and illustrations). This is an easy stitch (also known as s2kp and s2kp2) which consists of slipping 2 stitches, knitting the next stitch, and then passing the 2 slipped stitches over the knitted stitch. This new stitch adds a pretty raised bar to your lacework.

You may also wish to knit the entire cardigan without any lacework (thus using a stockinette stitch of alternating rows of knit and purl).

This cardigan will fit 14-14.5 inch dolls like Wellie Wishers™ and Hearts for Hearts® dolls. It can also be used for most yarns (and is pictured on the front cover in 100% merino wool).

SKILLS REQUIRED/TECHNIQUES USED
- Knit and purl, cast on and bind off.
- Decreasing.
- The basic lace stitch of yo.
- The lace stitch CDD (which may be new to you, but is simply slipping 2 stitches, knitting the next stitch, and then passing the 2 slipped stitches over the knitted stitch). The CDD stitch is also known as s2kp and s2kp2.
- Seaming. (Extra instructions for seaming are included.)
- Blocking. (Extra instructions for blocking are included.)

Supplies Needed:
• 2.75mm Needles (US No. 2 needles; UK/Canadian No. 12 needles)
• Yarn 260yds/238m/50g ball. (One ball.) The recommended yarn using the Standard Yarn Weight System is No.1 yarn super fine. This is also known as fingering and baby yarn. You can use sock yarn too, although the nylon content may be less desirable.
• 4 Stitch Holders. These can be used for holding the stitches for the Cardigan’s Sleeves, Back, and one Front while working on the other Front. These stitch holders are optional and I have not used them in this pattern, as you can leave the sections for the Cardigan’s Sleeves, Back, and one Front on the knitting needle.
• 4 Knit Stitch Markers or 4 safety pins. These are used for marking your pattern into the different sections (of Front, Back, and Sleeve pieces).
• Yarn (tapestry) needle for finishing seams
• One button
• Rust-proof pins for Blocking

The yarn I have used to create this pattern is Naturally™, Magic Garden™, Classic, 3ply, (100% NZ Merino Wool; 238m/260yds/50g ball); 1 ball. (Made in New Zealand. Bought in New Zealand.)

The recommended yarn using the Standard Yarn Weight System is No.1 yarn super fine. This is also known as fingering and baby yarn. You can use sock yarn too, although the nylon content may be less desirable.

Whether your doll is strolling down the red carpet, attending a wedding, or simply at a stylish “do,” this pattern allows your doll the opportunity to be at her most fashionable best.

The “Iris” outfit, by Karen Lorraine Design, consists of an unlined sheath dress finishing at the knee. The dress is then overlaid with a light specialty fabric like tulle or chiffon, which allows the overlay to flow into a gorgeous cascade of light. Lace (or trim) across the top of the bodice highlights the sophistication or casualness of your doll’s event. The back of the dress has a closing of eyelets, while as a bonus, a charming headpiece pattern of handsewn fabric and ribbons complement the outfit.

This pattern offers the seamstress a lot of versatility; for example, the overlay around the base of the dress can be left off and a classy sheath dress remains. Alternatively, there are endless possibilities in how the dressmaker wants to style the overlay fabric at the bottom of the dress. There are some areas that require handsewing, with suggestions given for those seamstresses who prefer not to handsew. These areas are attaching the lace across the shoulders, and attaching the fluffy overlay to the bottom of the dress.

“Iris” is designed to fit 13-14½" dolls like Wellie Wishers™, Hearts for Hearts®, Les Cheries®, and similar sized dolls. The pattern is intended to be used with woven cottons like satin, delustered satin, tulle, lace, and chiffon. Both dresses pictured have an underlay of delustered satin, and different overlays (with the blush overlay being a chiffon fabric, and the rainbow coloured overlay being a tulle fabric). 

Recommended Fabrics:

• Tulle or chiffon (for the overlays) with satin or delustered satin (for the underlays).

Supplies Needed:

• Underlay fabric of 12" (wide) x 9" (deep), woven cotton, non-stretch fabric like delustered satin (which I have used in both outfits) or satin. 
• Overlay fabric of 35" (wide) x 51" (deep), light-weight woven cotton or 2-way (crossgrain/horizontal) stretch fabric like bridal tulle, tulle (shown in the pastel coloured outfit) or chiffon (shown in the blush outfit). 
• Lace trim measuring 13" (wide) by 1½" (deep) for the shoulder straps. You can use lace fabric for this, and trim the fabric down to the necessary width. Alternatively, you can use bridal trims, self-made ruffle trims, embroidery trims, and similar items. 
• 32" ribbon for eyelets (with a width to fit your eyelets like 1/8-3/8") 
• 24" of ribbon at 1/8-1/4" wide for the headpiece
• 20" of ribbon at 1/8" wide for the headpiece
• Scraps of fabric for headpiece, including fabric like satin at 15" by 1" (for three bias cut rectangles of 5" by 1" each for each of the three flowers). 
• Eyelets and eyelet applier. I have used 10 eyelets on the blush outfit and 8 on the rainbow outfit. 
• Matching or contrasting thread.
• Silk thread for the tailor’s tacks with the fishtail dart.
• Fine, sharp pins (if you are using a specialty fabric like chiffon or satin). The ones I use are considered “extra fine, long [pins]”. 
• Hooks and eyes (optional) or buttons and buttonhole-loops. I have used two hooks and two eyes for each dress.

The Classic Sailor Collar and Dickey are equally fast and simple to construct because they're detachable rather than permanently stitched into the neckline.
