“The Occasional Elf”, by Karen Lorraine Design, consists of a three-piece outfit (plus bonus Christmas hat!) designed for fashionable clothing wear, elves and other faeries, and especially for use during holiday occasions. While the jacket could be paired with black capri pants for a fancy night out, or the hat and shoes placed on a little pixie, this pattern focuses on using the outfit for Christmas, Halloween, and patriotic occasions (like the 4th of July, and Memorial Days).
Presenting a false front, the jacket closes simply at the back. Similarly, the capri pants are also easy-fitting and do not require any elastic at the waistline. They are also a looser fit in the lower leg than leggings or tights. The bonus Christmas hat pattern offers extra charm and possibilities with its cute pompom and flexible hat.
The jacket and shoes are made from woven cotton fabrics (like felt and quilting cotton), while the capri pants and hat use a 2-way stretch fabric (like tee-shirt knits, and combed cotton knits). This is an easy piece to quickly sew up, and is ideal for those little fashion dolls who look so sweet and creative with their movable joints and expressions.
This pattern was primarily designed for the Monster High™ girl size. Generally, Monster High™ female dolls come in three sizes: adult (29cm height), girl (27cm height), and kid sister (25cm height). [There is also a newer “giant size” of about 17 inches that this pattern will not fit.]
Due to the design of “The Occasional Elf”, this pattern will also fit the Monster High small sized kid sister dolls, as well as the three general Ever After High dolls. [Ever After High™ female dolls come in three main sizes: tall girl (28cm), medium girl (27.25cm), and short girl (24.5cm).]
The pattern (as shown in the photographs) will also fit:
- Monster High adult for the jacket and capri pants
- Pullip (Type 4 body) for the capri pants
- Middie Blythe for the jacket (which she can wear as a dress)
- Byul/Dal for the jacket and capri pants
Recommended Fabrics: : Felt and quilting cotton for the jacket and shoes. Two-way stretch tee-shirt fabric for capri pants. Adult Christmas hat cut down and the fabric used for the elf hat.
Supplies Needed:Skirt:-46" (width/horizontal) x 19" (depth), non-stretch fabric like satin

Train:-32" (width/horizontal) x 29" (depth), non-stretch fabric like organza, chiffon

Bodice:-Fabric remnants from above (e.g. satin)
Facing:-Tulle or organza remnant (or other light fabric remnant).
