Course Overview: 

Have you ever thought about how nice it would be to have help cutting out your items? Maybe it’s time for you to look at adding a cutting machine to your wish list. Maybe you already have one, but it’s still in the box. Maybe you’ve heard a little about them but haven’t decided if they are worth the investment.

This month, we will look at a few basic projects and uses for a cutting machine as it applies to items for your doll to help you decide if a cutting machine is a good addition to your doll sewing and crafting world. Course Overview:

In this 4-part series we will demonstrate various ways to use ribbon in your sewing projects! Shari, Donna, and I will be teaching together throughout this topic and are excited to have you follow along! 

We have a fun topic for you this month that we can literally will literally wrap up and tie our New Year celebrations with a – ribbons! Ribbons come in an endless array
of colors, styles, and sizes that can be used in all sorts of creative ways for embellishments, adornments, decorations, and awards. In this series, we are going to look at a few different ways to use ribbons to add a dash of fun to your doll-size projects.

For our first project, Cinnamon will be showing us how to piece lengths of ribbon together to create a kind of ribbon fabric that she will use to make an adorable bed top for the Snuggle and Store tote (available separately).

Donna will be demonstrating how to apply flat ribbon to her Art Deco Dress and Bag (available separately). Add a simple stroke of color with a straight length of ribbon or follow her technique for making mitered corners to create a work of art.

Finally, I will be showing you a couple of ways to manipulate ribbon to create beautiful trims that will take your Victorian Era or Special Occasion outfit to the next level.

Course Overview:

Welcome to another installment of the Miniature Millinery series. In this course, we will be looking at how to make straw hats in miniature. Shari Fuller is joining us again and has several ingenious tutorials to share with us, simplifying the process by using up-cycled materials to create your pieces!

The topic will be divided into four parts. 

For this topic, you will need a few supplies ahead of time if you want to follow along with the tutorials, the main ones being a straw placemat and a human-size straw hat. 

• For Week 1, Shari will show us how to turn a (paper straw) Braided Circle  Placemat into a darling set of girl and doll matching hats!
• For Weeks 2, 3, and 4;  We will be experimenting with reshaping full-size raffia straw hats to make doll-size hats. In the demonstrations, we will be

Sewing A Themed Wardrobe Aussie Style! Course Overview:

Hi Everyone! Are you ready to explore another Sewing A Themed Wardrobe topic? This one is Aussie Style! This is going to be a look back at some of the early Outback Libby collection outfits as well as a look at the theme for the newest American Girl® doll Kira Bailey™. Her story takes place in Australia, so it's a perfect mix of things we've already created mixed with what's current and modern in the doll community.

Serger Basics Course Overview: Welcome to the topic - Serger Basics! For this topic, I'm excited to announce that Donna Kinley the designer of the DKinley Designs brand, will be my co-host! As many of you know, I'm not one who regularly uses a serger. I love the look of the finished style, I've just avoided learning all the necessary things to use a serger in my work. I've worked with Donna for several years and have always been impressed with her attention to detail and the quality of her sewn garments. Natural Fabric Dyes Course Overview: I'm excited to share some fun and easy techniques for creating uniquely dyed fabrics as well as some more involved methods for using and creating dyes from natural elements. Throughout the course of this topic, we will cover many issues that arise when working with dyes, such as the proper equipment to have on hand, the recommended fabric choices, and garment creation from this new fabric. As we demo each technique and dye method we will apply these things and work through the issues that arise, together.

I'm also joined by instructor Gina Levesque. More about Gina... Artist Gina Levesque has been working in traditional fiber arts since a young girl. Gina works with natural dye stuffs, weaving, rug hooking, spinning, and traditional penny rug construction. Due to her love of the outdoors and training as a biologist, she finds the natural world to be the greatest influence on her work. She remains true to the roots of these traditional fiber arts by incorporating some recycled materials into her finished pieces. Many times she works with wool to create her one-of-a-kind pieces.

As an instructor, she has conducted classes, workshops, demonstrations, and given lectures on natural dyes at various locations throughout the country. She has taught classes in natural dyeing and shibori at numerous venues in places like Oklahoma, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kansas. 

Her fiber art business, Across Generations, provides supplies and beginning projects to those interested in rug hooking, penny rugs, and natural dyeing. Gina holds memberships in The Tulsa Rug Hooking Guild, The Tulsa Handweavers Guild, Murrell Home Fiber Arts Guild, and Natural Dyes International.

We're super excited to have her show us the basics in Parts 3 and 4!
